Directions & Parking

From south or west St. Louis, Lambert International Airport, or from Illinois, follow the driving directions provided below. You can also hop on the MetroLink to get to the Arch.

Arriving by Car:

It’s easy to get to the Arch no matter where you’re traveling from.

From Illinois (East)

• Traveling west on I-64, I-55/70 across the Poplar Street Bridge.
• Take the Memorial Drive/Arch Riverfront/Convention Center Exit Only (right lane).
• Garage parking and the riverfront are accessible by traveling past the Arch (right lane) and taking the first right onto Washington Avenue.
• The garage is on the south side.

From Lambert International Airport (North)

• Traveling east on I-70, take the Memorial Drive-Downtown Exit (250B).
• Travel through one stoplight (Pine St.), then turn left on Chestnut.
• Cross over the highway then turn left on Memorial Drive.
• Stay in the right lane and turn right on Washington Avenue.
• The garage is on the south side.

From South St. Louis

• Traveling north on I-55 and I-44 (I-44 East merges with I-55 North) take the Downtown Exit (209A).
• Then take the Memorial Drive Exit (251C), which is the 2nd right-hand lane (the far right lane goes to Illinois).
• Garage parking and the riverfront are accessible by traveling past the Arch (right lane) and taking the first right onto Washington Avenue).
• The garage is on the south side.

From West St. Louis

• Traveling east on I-64/US-40 take the Broadway Exit (last Missouri exit).
• Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp.
• Turn right on to 8th Street and proceed around Busch Stadium.
• Turn right on Walnut and travel east until you reach Memorial Drive.
• Turn left on Memorial Drive.
• The Arch garage is past the Arch (traveling north).
• Turn right onto Washington Avenue.
• The entrance to the garage is on the south side.

By Public Transportation:

If you prefer public transportation, the trip to The Gateway Arch is quick and easy. Take the MetroLink which departs approximately every 10 minutes to the Core of Discovery. Simply board at any MetroLink station and exit at The Gateway Arch-Laclede’s Landing station; all trains stop at The Gateway Arch-Laclede’s Landing station. From there, it’s only a 5-minute walk on a paved path. Follow the signs to The Gateway Arch.

From Lambert Airport:

Traveling to the Arch from Lambert Airport is a 28-minute ride on MetroLink, with departures to and from Lambert every 10 minutes.

Parking for Riverboat Cruises:

If you’re planning to take a Gateway Arch Riverboat cruise, Levee Parking is the most convenient and closest place to park.

Levee Parking

• Cost is $3 per car.
• This lot may vary in size due to the height of the river.
• Be aware that the lot contains uneven cobblestones; drive slowly to prevent damage to vehicles.
• This parking lot is owned and operated by St. Louis Parking Company. To find out about pre-paid group rates, call 314-241-7777.
• Bus, RV, and Automobile Parking
• If you drive to the Core of Discovery, paid parking is available in the Arch Parking Garage located on the north edge of the Arch grounds off Washington Avenue.

Parking Garage

• Parking is $6 for the first 9 hours and 75 cents for each additional half hour.
• The garage also offers an Early Bird special of $4 if you enter the garage between the hours of 6 - 9am.
• Maximum vehicle height is 7 feet.
• Elevators in the parking garage to get to the Arch grounds are especially useful for guests with disabilities.
• If you travel to the Core of Discovery by RV or bus, there’s a special place for you to park, south of the Poplar Street Bridge along Leonor K. Sullivan Blvd. Complimentary bus parking  is located just beneath the Poplar Street Bridge.

Tour Bus

If you travel to the Core of Discovery with a tour group, your bus will unload on the southwest edge of the Arch grounds, near the Old Cathedral, directly to your right once you take the Memorial Drive exit. This area is exclusively for drop off and pick up of passengers.

Directions to Complimentary Bus/RV parking:

From the Bus Load Zone at the Old Cathedral on Memorial Drive, turn left onto Market Street, turn left onto Broadway, turn left onto Chouteau, and turn left onto Leonor K. Sullivan. The Bus/RV parking zone is labeled with street banners.
